Home Straight - Ready, Go!
In Helsinki we took the ferry to cross the bay and get to the capital of Estonia, Tallinn. A astonishing old city center was already waiting for us, however we were much to early in the morning. As we got of the ferry around 7 am and started roaming the streets of this old Hanseatic City everyone was still fast asleep it seemed. The city however looked promising and I personally still want to go back to see the city’s life.

Finland - Scandinavia or Baltics?
You all know Scandinavia or at least heard of it. However, what countries do actually belong to it? Some might consider Finland to be part of it. According to Wikipedia it’s not really clear and anyone who visited the country can understand why. Suomi, how it’s called in the local language and in the majority of the Baltic, does not really fit into the Scandinavian picture that’s painted by Sweden and Norway.

Lofoten to Nordkapp
You guessed it probably already, the Lofoten were picturesque. The rocks, sea and little houses that a spread on the lush meadows In the midst of the mountains add to the atmosphere. Unfortunately, the weather was only mediocre. It was quite rainy, windy and cloudy. We camped on a ground directly at the beach and met with all the other teams to celebrate the midnight sun party. We had a BBQ and participated in the viking games.

The journey to the Lofoten
The journey was long but we are finally in arms reach; from Hamburg to the Lofoten. Two days ago we were still in southern Sweden and now we are on the ferry three hours from the Lofoten. We saw and experienced alot. It turned out we are miserable fishermen and we crossed the Arctic Circle. We are now a few nights in without darkness which makes it impossible to know when you have to go to bed to get a good night’s sleep.

Taking a shower
The second day started much earlier than the kickoff in Hamburg yesterday. We left the camp ground in Sandhammaren along with a huge group of other participants at around 7 or 8. The goal was to get past Jönköping and have a nice ride along the coast of Lake Vättern. The search for the largest erratic Boulder brought us to the Omberg and we learned that there was an unsuccessful expedition in 1897 which wanted to explore the Arctic in a hot air balloon.

Emigholz
We got one step closer to our goal of arriving safe and sound back in Hamburg, thanks to our sponsor Emigholz. They support us with two new tires and a check up for Bob! The entire team is thankful for the support and therefore we want to introduce them a bit. Emigholz offers a full service coverage for your car’s tires. It has 18 service stations all around Emden, Sittensen, Cuxhaven and Bremen.

First day
Tired but happy we dropped into our beds! The first day is done. We started with exactly 200 teams on the fish market in Hamburg. First we made ourselves familiar with the route and the daily challenge while we started on the highway towards the north. on the first and last day it is allowed to use the highway, for the remaining days we gotta take the nationals and side roads.

Bob 1.1
A few things happened with Bob as a preparation for the tour. We took a few pictures to show you.
He got new hub cabs: new hold points to secure the barbecue (lower right): new seat covers (new <- old): and a few things changed in the back: our compass A new clothesline nets for more storage pockets at the back of the cockpit
We are currently still working on cutting the logos for decorating the outside of the bus.
